On the hunt for the PERFECT Christmas tree...

Yes honey, I want that branch at the top with the pine cone.

Ohhh watch out for the snow...hehehe

Lucy is patiently waiting for us

I know the reason why Haylie and Lucy have become such best friends.. Both have a free, fun spirit.

Where's your sled Haylie?

When you forgot the sled, use your back.

Cow Elk watching us

A very Special Gift

If you have been keeping track of my blog or my past facebook account, you should know or have heard of our very dear and extremely talented family friend, Karen Platner. Karen designs and sews children apparel.  Her signature pieces are her exquisite hand smocked dresses. Karen has 3 beautiful granddaughters that get to reap her talents. Upon spotting a picture of the very cute custom made wool coats she created for her granddaughters, I knew Haylie had to have one for her wardrobe. Haylie is now a proud owner of an adorable swing dress coat. The coat is TOTALLY Haylie. Words alone can't express our gratitude.

*** If you would like to see more or order an item please check out Karen's blog; http://karen-robynseggblue.blogspot.com/

It passes the "swing" test

"Oh mom!" (the dress she is wearing was also created by Karen)

She loved running and having it flying up behind her.

Pictures are done, Snowball fight!! (she just clobbered Tom with a snowball)

Here it comes Daddy!

Now its mom's turn.
(please excuse the focus, I was running backwards  trying to take pictures and avoid snowballs.)

Veterans Day Assembly

In honor of our veterans, the Hayden Kinder Center put on a little Veterans Day assembly. Haylie had been practicing the two songs they were to sing for weeks and extremely excited that her daddy was able to attend.

So serious

Can you tell who they are presenting to now?

Haylie giving Daddy his flower

Overall there 8 veterans; 6 with grandchildren and 2 with children attending this school

Pumpkins & Peacocks

Getting ready to carve her pumpkin

Digging out the guts

After the first handful she refused to scoop any more out with her hands.

Watch out she has a knife

Haylies mommy cat and then she did a baby cat.

Haylie wanted to do a silly picture.

A spider, 2 cats and one that says "Wurtz" (It needed to be darker for mine to show up)

Grandma and Grandpa's house first.

Princess of the Peacocks

Next up was Aunt Taran and Uncle Darren's

Taran's cats were fascinated with all of Haylies feathers

Then to the church for the Harvest Party.

Who needs motor power when you have HORSE power!

Fall brings brilliant colors, crisp air, pumpkins, and winter preparations  One of our many winter preparations is the dragging of the horse fields. Thus preparing it for spring grass. Normally we would borrow dad's four wheeler or our tuck to pull the drag. This morning as I was sipping my coffee, going over my to do list, I had one of those "awwhaaa" moments. Why not make my horses clean their own rooms, just as I make Haylie clean hers. The whole family had fun testing out the horses pulling capabilities. Dakota went first, just as expected he did excellent. He takes every new thing in stride. Hawkeye was second, I predicted correctly, he was not at all thrilled with the idea of being demoted to "work horse" status. He would much rather babysit Haylie. Tom talked me into trying out our new horse Jack. I don't know much about his past and have spent the last month, more or less feeling him out. He continues to surprise me. While he lacks the muscles structure that the other two have, he makes up for it with his willing attitude. He took to the harness like a fish to water. At the end of the day, one field prepped, my horses learned a new lesson, and we all had fun trying something new.
Dakota drew the short straw and had to go first. Piece of cake he says.

Putting that big butt to good use.

Hawkeye got the job of babysitting.

Trying Jack out. This horse constantly surprises me.

He quickly learned to drop his head and muscle into it.

Very good boy Jack!
