A rare occasion.

If you have ever had the pleasure of owning horses, most people know that approaching a horse laying down will cause them to get up. Horses are flight animals and the last thing they want is being caught laying down when a "predator" approaches. A horse needs to be extremely secure in its environment before something like this will happen. While I was working the two other horses, Jack decided to take an afternoon nap. I told Haylie to get a cookie (horse treat) and approach him slowly. Jack gladly accepted the treat and didn't move a muscle. Haylie quickly ran and got her brush as I ran and got my camera. For more then 45 minutes, Jack enjoyed being groomed, fed cookies and endless handfuls of grass. I was thrilled to capture it all. Needless to say, Haylie was ecstatic.

Do you think he is enjoying himself?

Melts my heart.

Loving my yard!

Living on 5 acres has its perks. I get to tinker in my yard as much as I want. The house we are in needed some serious up dating to the over grown flower garden/landscaping. A little hard work, ingenuity, and a few treasures and our little farm house is starting to look pretty sharp! Oh and I mustn't forget to mention, we now have CHICKENS!!!

One of my bird feeders Tom made me has a place on the top for succulents. I finally  added the plants after Haylie used that space to hold peanuts for the squirrel, now I just need to train that squirrel to leave my plants alone. Good thing succulents are hardy.

Our house numbers are on the house and everyone drives right on by the house. Not anymore...now I can say, we live at the house with the cute wheelbarrow full of flowers and the darling red bird house. (Another one of Tom's bird house creations)
Tipsy Pots. Tom and I had this whipped out in 1 hour. (minus the flowers) Not sure if you can see it in the picture but  there is water flowing from the top pitcher.
A few treasures I acquired in Montana. Still need a few little things to complete the look and I'm missing my other horseshoe flower, its getting a new coat of paint.

Another Montana treasure. Just need to add a few potted plants around my rocks and it will be finished.

We have lots of fruit trees on the property. The blooms this spring were, in Haylie's word..."Marvelous!"

What style she has.

One of my cute bird houses.

Check out this darling chicken coop!!!

I even found the perfect sign...."I dream of the day when the chicken doesn't need an excuse to cross the road"

Yes that is a pigeon in with our girls. The pigeon aka "Compass" is a tagged homing pigeon from Oklahoma. He was hooping around our field with a broken wing. After contacting the American racing pigeon association, Compass is now here to stay.

Pretty Girls.

Scenic Byway trip with Grandma and Grandpa

My folks invited Haylie and I on a two day road trip through the Nez Pierce, Sellway, and Locsha National Forest. Their goal is to drive all the scenic byway highways in Idaho. Since we would be passing right by the Locsha Lodge, I suggested we stay there for the night. The Locsha Lodge is the same lodge that we go to every February to enjoy the hot springs. I was excited to see the area without 5 ft of snow. It's beautiful with the snow but even more spectacular with no snow. Along our way we saw the Sellway falls, lots of river rafters, an ancient cedar grove and an abundance of wildlife. The only thing that could have made it better was if Tom didn't have to work.

Two pretty rays of sunshine.

Part of the Sellway falls

The pictures don't even come close to capturing the raging, rushing water

Long way up.

I love that you can see how the water has etched its swirling path into this rock.

Cute little working forest service cabin. Behind it had horse corrals and a barn.

One of the thousand white water rafters.

I missed the shot of the person falling out.

We hiked around the Cobalt licks, they are a natural  area that  salt and minerals rise to the surface . It attracts all sorts of wildlife. Along the trail there were a bunch of burned out trees.

I see you.

What a sweet heart.

That's one large Cedar tree.

My dad is still a kid at heart. These two make my heart swell.
