Double Digit Birthday Girl!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MISS HAYLIE ANN WURTZ!!!
Our beautiful little girl is growing up to be a beautiful women inside and out. I can't believe she is 10 years old already. We have enjoyed every moment with this firecracker.
Tom is away for AT with guard, so we headed to Seattle to celebrate Haylie's Birthday. We had a wonderful time going to the horse races for the first time ever and seeing a few new things in Seattle.

Starting the Birthday weekend off with horse races.
(My friend Morgan was able to tag along for the weekend)

Warming up

Silly boy

We watched the first race on the rail and then went up to the Turf Club on the 5th floor to have dinner. We watched the next few races at a table that was right by the glass walls.

And their OFF!!

WHOO HOOO!!

The next day we went to visit the Fremont Troll. A local artist carved this creature under one of the bridges and it has become one of the top 10 things to see in Seattle. It was quite impressive!!
Clayton was not to sure about it, even after all his excitement leading up to it.

I was trying to get him to touch it without me and he was explaining to me that if we woke him up his hand would reach up and smash you. :) Such an imagination.

I finally convinced him to tap the Troll to see if he would  awake.

The Troll didn't awake so I guess its okay to step on him.

Yep still not sure about being on the troll. :)

The artist used a hub cap for his eye and he's gripping a VW Bug.

The car is safe territory.

Next we headed over to the Pacific Science center. I love this place!

This quote reminds me of my kids. No special talents just simple curiosity. Best way to learn.

Clayton loved the Dinosaur section, except the moving T-Rex. I couldn't even get a picture of him in close proximity to the guy.

The horse lovers found a new kind of mount.

The Science center has a really cool butterfly atrium. Haylie and Morgan stayed for quite a while checking out all the different butterflies. Clayton on the other hand, had to leave, the NO TOUCHING rule was very hard to follow. :)

How would you  like this as your dinning room table.

They have a bike that you can "ride the rail",  its all in perfect balance. Haylie wanted to ride it, but you had to be over a 100 pounds to ensure you could pedal it.

These two tried their best to get the water wheel to move.

On the way home we stopped at the Wild Horse Monument. After a quick steep hike up the hill, you can get up close and personal with the metal statues. There are about 12 of them that can be seen from the freeway at quite a distance. I have drove past them for years have never stopped until now.

Clayton was not nearly as enthused as his sister to be sitting on one.

Rocks are better for picture posing.

The view of the valley and river were quite impressive.

Mr. Independent would not sit on my rock. :)

YeeHaa Birthday Girl!!
Thanks for the wonderful fun weekend.
