First Camping trip of the year!

The kids and Tom had a week off; the sun was predicted to be shinning; naturally we must go camping. We headed down to Walla Walla and then over to the Palouse Falls for 4 days of fun.

Kicked off the first day of camping with - S'mores

Cheese!!

Dad even gets one.

We rode our bike around Bennington Lake. The wind was so strong, it made the short ride feel extra long.

Headed to Pioneer Park after our bike ride for a pic'nic lunch.

We were pleasantly surprised at the park. They had multiple ponds, bird sanctuary with lots of different birds, huge trees and was all very well cared for.

These trees are HUGE!!

When in Walla Walla drink wine and snuggle your exhausted child.
After Walla Walla we headed to a KOA by the Palouse Falls. We were right on the Snake river.

Clayton caught the first fish - this did not make his sister happy.

The KOA was at Lyons Ferry Marina. This is the old Ferry that used to be used for crossing the river. Operation began in 1860 and was the main crossing for Mullen's Road, a military trade route.  With the construction of a bridge, the ferry crossing came to an end in December of 1968.

There was a little pond that the fish hatchery stocks with trout.

Haylie giving her advise

Haylie caught a little sun fish

I love it when the kids make popcorn on the fire. (way better then yucky s'mores)

Beautiful sunset

We can still smile after our long hike.

Palouse Falls

Yes it was steep enough you needed a rope to help back up or in Haylies case, down.

See that trail down there? That is what we hiked along

Don't worry, they are not perched on the cliff edge, there are stairs behind him and a fence. :)

I love all the rock formations.

Goofy boy

We made it to the rock formation that looked like the back of a dinosaur.

Taking a break before the 1/2 mile straight up climb.

A must visit!
