First quilt ever!

Finally, I have finished Haylie's and Clayton's room! Since they have to share a room, a total revamp on the colors was necessary to try to incorporate both a "boy/girl" look. One of Haylie's favorite colors is purple. Since their room was already painted a soft blue, I decided to pair purple and blue together. I looked and looked for two quilts that matched in pattern one with blues and one with a little purple in it. No such luck, unless I was willing to spend $500 for a twin quilt. If you can't buy it, then the next best thing is to make it. Or maybe that should be the other way around. Anyways, with a lot of encouragement from my mom and a ton of help from a dear friend, I took on the massive project of making the quilts myself. I love sewing, but I have NEVER attempted a sewing project like that of making a quilt. I'm more for the 1 hour projects. I have new found respect for the ladies that whip out these quilts like its nothing. Four months later Haylie's twin size quilt is finally done!! Now I need to get started on Clayton's, so its ready when he moves to a big kids bed. (yes it just may take me that long.) The whole room was a group project. My dad made the headboards, Taran made the H, and my mom made Haylie's pillow case and throw pillows. I LOVE how it all turned out.

I made a small duvet cover for his crib. His future quilt will look the same. Essentially the same as Haylie's but with none of the purple fabric.

So bright and cheerful.

Boise Weekend Getaway

Tom now drills in Boise once a month and I have been saying I would make the trip down one weekend with him. Once Clayton was born, I had the perfect excuse to tag along, Uncle Dan needed to meet his new little nephew. My favorite thing about Boise, is all the delicious restaurants we get to try. The best part, Daniel knows which ones are top notch. We also toured the State Capital building. What a beautiful building! Last but not least, we stopped for a short visit with my Great Aunt Maddie Sue.....I'm a little mad at myself, I didn't get a picture of Clayton and Daniel together. I guess I will have to wait till Easter, when he's up for a visit. All in all it was a wonderful weekend just getting out of the house.

Can anyone tell me what the pattern is on the floor?

She's so goofy!

Just love the architectural work

Haylie loved it too......Have you guessed what the pattern is? Yep that's right its a sun dial. The point at Haylies left shoulder is pointing true south. This lower pattern matches the one upstairs.

This was the only picture I could get with Clayton not screaming his head off. He was worn out from all the traveling.

Grandma & Grandpa Wurtz meet Clayton

As usual I am late posting pictures. Tom and Tina were able to make a short trip out here to meet Clayton in February. My two children couldn't be more spoiled with such wonderful grandparents.
What a good looking family!  (From the left: Tina, Clayton, Haylie, Tom and Addison)

The Wurtz Visit in October

I just realized when I went to post their visit in February, that I never posted the pictures from when they were here in October to see their new grand daughter Addison. Here are a few photos from Tom and Tina's visit. We love getting to spend time with these two!

Tom and Haylie took Grandpa fishing. It was a beautiful day to catch some sun rays, but no luck catching any fish.

Bummer No fish!
Tom took his dad for a day hunt and to see if they could hear a bull bugle.
