Family vacation to Lake of the Pines in Wisconsin

We were finally able to make the trip to the cabins in Wisconsin. The cabins are on a lake called Lake of the Pines, between Winter and Phillips Wisconsin. We had a blast enjoying the lake, family, and a new area for me. Tom Sr. and Tina have been staying at this cabin for 25+ years. Troy, Taran, and Tom have many fond memories of vacationing here. Thank you Tom and Tina for sharing your special vacation spot with us. Troy and Liz it was wonderful getting to see you and your 3 beautiful children.

23 hour drive and both kids traveled like rock stars.

AHHHH Daddy's getting me.

Lake of the Pines

He loved the boat rides

Hanging with Uncle Troy

Driving the boat with Grandpa

It was a beautiful evening

Now that is some perfect water skiing water

Captain Haylie

The green roofed cabin was ours. On the left behind the trees was the other cabin that Darren, Tarran, Troy, Liz and kids stayed in.

I really enjoyed our evening rides on the pontoon boat.

As soon as breakfast was over the kids all rushed out to go fishing.

Wyatt caught the first fish, he didn't want to touch it and kept asking Grandpa to put it back.

Soon he will be big enough to fish with the big kids.

We went to the fish museum and you can climb into the mouth of a huge Muskie.

Oh No! Clayton is fish bait.

The cabin had these old farm sinks that were perfect for baths.

Out for a ride with Grandma and Aubrey

Clayton driving with Grandpa

Grayson helping Grandpa drive

Love these two.

A combination of being strapped in a life jacket, the rocking of the boat and fresh air, always rocked Clayton to sleep.

We spotted a Loon

Headed out on a canoe ride.

There is a channel that connects Lake of the Pines with Conner lake. I was too worried about tipping over to bring my camera. It was a lot of fun and we all stayed upright. :)

The lake is shallow for about a 100 ft out which is ideal for the kids to splash and play. If your brave enough to swim with the Muskies you can go out to the floating dock. Of course Haylie and Tom were brave enough.

The otters came very early every morning. I tried to get pictures but they were on their way out when we spotted them.

Feeding the ducks

Beautiful foggy morning

We went up to Bayfield on Lake Superior to visit Tom's cousin Marybeth. Very beautiful crystal clear lake.

Lake Superior reminded me of the ocean

Darwin showing Haylie some minnows in a back water

An old fish processing building. They still have it all set up like it was when it was functioning.

Marybeth, Darwin and us. We had so much fun and wish we had more time to explore.

Old Fisherman's boat. Can you believe they used to float?

The pretty Loon. I love the sound they make

One very happy husband. We were playing cards and during a baby break Tom says; "I'm just going to cast a few of the dock" Next thing we know he is whooping and hollering. The one thing he wanted to do on this vacation was catch a Muskie.

Not legal limit to keep, but still a very large fish with a mouth full of ugly sharp teeth.

Bottoms up.

Addison and Clayton loved their floaties.

Addison was able to walk and would push Clayton along.

Floating along with dad

Addie is ready for another boat ride

Haylie swam out all by herself

Went for a hike to see Slough Gundy and Little Falls.

Checking out a grass snake that was sunning himself

Silly boy likes to hang his head over the side.

Very pretty river with big round rocks.

Tarzan

What a good looking family!

Isn't this a cool looking tree?
